Spring is finally here! We have milder temperatures and lighter nights now, so there are no valid excuses: it is time for you to get your home in order.

When you stop and think about it, the idea of spring cleaning is very illogical. Many people don’t really like going out a lot over the winter. We go into work while it is still dark and return home in the dark as well, and then we cannot face going out again. It would seem that the long dark months would be the perfect opportunity to take care of things around the house; however, most us just want to hibernate.

So now that the sun has started to shine it highlights all of the clutter and dust along with streaky windows: all of those things that we have neglected throughout the winter months. So now is the time for you to spring forward to get everything sorted and spring into action. You could also get some professional help from companies like CJH Cleaning Services.

Five Steps to Achieving a Clean House

The following is our quick guide for spring cleaning over a weekend. Just devote one weekend to sorting out your house and then you will be free to enjoy the rest of your spring without guilt!

The following are the five steps that should be taken:

Declutter in One Day

Here is the trick: do not spend any more time than you really need to on this task. For every overfilled drawer or cupboard and piles of stuff, there are three major categories: pass it on, throw it away, and keep it. Act quickly: just put stuff back that you definitely want to keep. Then store everything neatly where you can easily access it as needed.

Immediately get rid of your “throw away” items – by taking them out to the tip or into the bin – and take your “pass on” items into a charity shop unless there is a home collection next week.

If you have any items that you aren’t sure about, place them in a black bag and then review it in about a month. Just make sure to place a reminder on your phone to do this so that you don’t forget to do it.

Bust the Dust

You now have a clear area to vacuum, polish, and dust all of the surfaces in all of the rooms from the top of your home downwards. Start off by vacuuming the blinds, curtains, doors, walls, light fittings, and ceiling. Then polish and dust all of your horizontal surfaces. The finish off by hoovering your skirting boards and all of your floor space. You should use a steam cleaner or a specialist cleaner to clean wooden floors.

Shine It

Now it is time to get your home shining by cleaning all of the mirrors, glass, and windows using either a custom cleaner or that old-fashioned method of using a combination of water and white vinegar that is applied with either a cloth or newspaper. Having gleaming glass really helps to brighten up your house.

Knockout Kitchens

The kitchen is the very heart of your home. That means that it is a place that has a tendency to get very lived-in – and not always in a good way. Now is your chance to bring everything back to life.

Start at the top and work your way down with the top parts of your appliance and units, and then clean all of the doors on the high kitchen cabinets. Clean each appliance, which includes descaling when it is necessary. Then clear each surface completely and thoroughly. Then move onto the lower kitchen cabinets and then finish with the floor and sink.

If you realise during the process that your kitchen is starting to look quite tired, then maybe 2019 is the year to start thinking about getting a new kitchen for your home.

Beautify Your Bathroom

Finally, make sure you clean all of the bathrooms in your house from top to bottom. Take everything out of the bathroom and vacuum the floor and all of the wall. Then thoroughly clean all of the bathroom fittings and surfaces. Soon your bathrooms will be looking their best once again.
